Here’s how to find free grant money.
1. Research the Organization / Program in More Depth
Once you have a list of potential organizations / programs, you should contact them to get more information. If you have access to the Internet, most organizations or programs have their details available online.
You can also call or write them for more details.
2. Write Your Grant Proposal / Apply
Depending on the organization / program, you will either mail in an application, write a grant proposal or apply in person for the assistance.
If you are dealing with a government organization, you can sometimes obtain the necessary paperwork from a local library. When you fill out the paperwork, make sure that you fill it out completely. Many times a small error or omission on an application can disqualify your application.
3. Follow-up
If you have sent an application or grant proposal by mail, you should call the organization and make sure they received your package after a week or two to make sure that they don’t need anything else from you.
Ask how long the process typically takes, and see if they can give you a date when you can call back again to follow-up.
